Custom Furniture, Coffee Table

This cherry wood table is a mix of Asian and Arts and Crafts design features. It was designed for a client with a fairly small living room. It is not quite as long as many of the standard coffee tables one finds in furniture stores. The style and wood for this table were selected to compliment the client’s mission style dining room furniture.

The client’s dining room flows into the living room and while they wanted a certain degree of consistency in style between the two rooms, they also wanted each space to be distinct from the other. A couch (not shown here) was also designed to accompany the coffee table in the same style and wood.

Construction Details:

Wood: Cherry.
Joints: Mortise and tenons.
Other: The top is attached using a floating technique with dadoes.
Finish: hand-rubbed varnish oil.
